NASA is scheduled to launch a telescope today that will search a slice of the Milky Way galaxy for Earth-like planets. The mission attacks a basic human question, said NASA Associate Administrator Ed Weiler: Are we alone? The Kepler spacecraft carries a telescope that will stare at 100,000 stars in the Cygnus-Lyra region of the Milky Way for more than three years.
